Project Information

I built this bed for my seven year old daughter. It is a twin sized loft bed. She wanted it to resemble a doll house. The lower area under the bed has built in desk and shelf areas. I designed the bed so that the entire upper half of the house facade is on hinges and can be unlatched and folded down to easily facilitate changing sheets or removing the mattress. The bed area has built in shelves where she has a TV, VCR and storage area for her movies. The staircase is designed with a ladder that folds up and latches. I designed this because my wife often has friends over with small children. When they play in the room she doesn't want them to be able to climb up without supervision.

The great thing about loft beds is that it frees up floor space and provides a great play area under the bed. The entire bed can be easily disassembled for moving as well.

Looks like you did a great job building it.

How does your wife like making it? Just curious, I know what mine would say :))

I'm sure your daughter loves this. Maybe it will become a family heirloom.
Great job and a great design.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Actually my wife has done a great job in training our girls to make their own beds so they are tasked with this chore. They are young and have lots of energy so they seem to handle it OK.
