Serving tray #2. My Uncle liked my first tray (made for my wife) so much he commissioned me to build one for my Aunt (his wife). Thanks Uncle Rich ;)
Speaking of such. My lovely Wife Brandy agreed to model this piece.
This tray is 15” x 22” x 2 1/2” The Book-matched Cherry bottom is 3/16” thick, set in a dado cut as a floating panel. The finish is Watco Danish Oil – Natural, with a good rubbing of Wax. The hardware was on sale at HD as Large drawer pulls. I used my miter spline jig on the Tablesaw to add Walnut splines. The bottom spline larger or longer than the top spline.
This week I’ll be offering similar Cherry from my personal collection, for sale in my ebay store (Shameless plug)
I would like to thank my Planer, Jointer, Tablesaw and Jet Sander for aiding me in the creation of this tray and my boys Nick and Clark for helping out in the shop.

Beautiful!

Fine work, and she seems happy, this is by all means the more important.

Nice figure … on the bookmatched cherry, that is! :-) This will make a nice design for a tray to shlep items to and from the bbq grill. Nicely done.

That’s one beautiful tray!
And don’t give us this b.s. about that being your wife. You obviously brought in a professional model to get more project views. :-)

Thanks Charlie. Yes that is my wife and I am very lucky…. because I’m one ugly dude. It will be interesting to see if this project does get more views however. My last tray has just over 800. Time will tell. Interesting Indeed…hmmmm
Jim, Thanks. The same place you get your curly wood ;)
Oh and Len I should have known you’d be the first to comment!

Hahahaha…..I guess that the 6 viewers before me (my first comment) were …ummmm…tongue tied , or something similar.
Was there mention of a second tray that you made ? I must have missed it : (
Maybe you could get Brandy to display that one for us as well : )
By the way , Scotty , I’m uglier than you are …Does Brandy have a Sister ?

Thanks Dusty, I was being modest about my looks. Isn’t it a little early in the evening for you to be online? :) lol

You didn’t answer the Sister question , Bro !
Yes it is early for me , but I finally got a job after 18 months of being unemployed , so I’ll be heading for La-La land very shortly.
I hope to be able to save up enough money to buy some of that Curly Cherry from you shortly : )
Have a great night , my friend : )
