I like the flutes – adds a lot to the posts. Very nicely done – looks like they’ve always been there.
-- I've never seen a tree that I wouldn't like to repurpose into a project. I love the smell of wood in the morning - it smells like victory.

I had to make L shaped brackets to screw them to the floor on all 4 sides at their bases.
And I hollowed out the base trim to accommodate those brackets, so they were not visible from the outside.
They’ve been really strong for quite some time.
The railings were just cut at 90 degrees, and fit into the blocks on the back top sides.

Thanks, I think we are going to replace the railings as well, to match the oak though.
They are fir, and somewhat darker, and my wife would like slightly more updated spindles as well.
