My theme was going to be a sunset in New Mexico, kind of honering Patron. In the different times of day you can see the different colors of the desert sunset in the colors of the scrub cactus, osage and brush. Always changing colors as the sun sinks slowly in the west, ever changing, ever flowing. This is long grain maple and I owe Trifern thanks for borrowing his wonderful idea of layering dyes to get the different layers of browns and reds in the finish. Which also was done in rub on poly and polishing wax. Thanks for looking and feel free to critique. mike

bummer that you didnt make it in…very nice project—-the last picture is spectacular (they are all nice—-but that one is my favorite)...
several years ago I did not realize the deadline time was central time…and I missed posting my first adirondack chair a few hours late…I posted a picture of the project and what was done at the official time the contest ended…

Heck, who cares about a contest when you can do this type of stuff – it’s a winner, YOU’RE a winner. And a nice sentiment to Patron.

Not a problem Karson. It’s my fault, I just didn’t have time before I left and the wife was chewing on my heels. Thanks everyone. The comments mean a lot comming from true artists.

Awesome vessel Mike. So now I can add finishes to the list of items to watch you do on the lathe. Just when you thought class was over huh? ;)
