Vintage truck

A customer suggested a planter to resemble a vintage truck. I liked the idea.

After searching to no avail for a pattern; I turned to my old source T & E designs.

After a large amount of trial and an overly abundant amount of errors; the photos are the result.

It is made from rescued cedar fence material. The size is 14 inches long, 7 inches tll and 5-1/4 inches wide.

The rjR standard unless instructed not to by the customer, the light torching was also applied.

The clay pot is a standard 4” form H-D.

I may have to try to make some ???? Patterns from this. I will be making a few more of differt styles as I bought 4 pots.

Nice work Ralbuck. Those old ones would have had a crank handle. I can remember using one on an old army truck, LOL

Pretty vintage with some purpose too – very good idea to use it as planter stand.

Cool truck planter. These should be nice gifts. I think you covered the vintage look nicely with the torching.

A “Thank You” for the kind comments, but, I have seen better projects than mine——not make top 3—- WHY?

As most wood workers know; sanity does NOT create strange projects like this! T & E with a lot more errors are the actual cause.

It seems to me there are more than three top 3 projects every day lately, but I’ve never actually counted. Congrats on it anyhow!

I like what you did with what you had. Good looking planter…. I have an old bag of toy truck parts (wheels, rims etc ) and a basic set of plans for a semi-truck (car carrier) from Rockler Woodworking… A friend gave them to me, and they have been sitting in a drawer for 10 years or more. If you can use them, send me your address and I’ll ship them out to you. Maybe you can get some use out of them and make a little one happy. Thanks and Happy Holidays to you and yours !
