A couple of flag cases commissioned by a good friend.

1st one for his wife’s grandfather done in red birch (with a little figure) with cherry splines and base.

2nd one for his father, who hasn’t passed yet (hence: no dates) done in Koa with walnut slines and base.

made a simple jig to get the 62.5 bottom miters and also made some clamping jigs to glue this thing together. That was a bitch when I tried to use titebond. After switching to epoxy, things went together somewhat smoother because I had a little more time to get it together..

Finished with four coats of a penetrating oil made from equal parts Tung, Poly, and MS.

Very nice. What did you use to do the etching on the glass or was it a decal.

Great work Eric! Some how I missed this post. I was looking to see if you were on line and found this, I had a question for you. I’ll give you a call later today when its not so early. Its 9 am wasnt sure if your awake yet.

Great work, like the splines on the face instead of the edges interesting.
