On vacation, I saw a carved sea turtle. I had to have one, so I snapped a few pictures went back to the shop and went to work. Several months later, here are the turtles. I first did the small one out of a piece of 1” lumber then the large one. Carved out of Mahogany, the large turtle is just under 2 feet in length from back fin to nose. The shell is actually 5 pieces of 1” thick lumber stacked. Each fin and the head were carved separately. Dowel pins hold the fins and head to the shell.
