Another present box. This one is a Wing box as describe by Andy. Again did most of this following his blogs for help.
  • Body- Leopard/Lace wood.
  • Lids- Sycamore “quarter shawn” with Padauk ascents.
  • Handle- Bocote.
  • Hinges- Brass pins.
  • Finish- Two coats of Tung oil under 3 coats of sprayed Lacquer.

Need to work on bending skills. Used some make shift methods to produce some steam. Either need more steam or more patience to put a little bend in the 1/8 Padauk.

Greg, this box has great details. The sculpted sycamore is really beautifully done. Wonderful skill there. The combination of woods for accents is eye-catching. The wing-lid design provides good, clear access to the interior. Well done. This box has an elegant, classic design. It looks to be museum quality work. Keep boxing and keep posting.
