This is a hand plane my 6yr old son and I built for his grandfathers’ 60th b-day. It is made out of Mesquite a friend brought back from Mexico last year and Maple flooring given to me from a remodel a friend did. Hope you caught the friends’ donation that’s how I get most of my wood for projects. Anyway it was fun doing with my son and my father-in-law enjoyed it… The shavings are from the hand plane of course I tried it out before letting it go.

That is in deed, a very nice gift! It is a very meaningful gift from You, and Your Son, that thrilled Grandpa most. I am sure that He may see You as a young boy interested in Your Father’s skill, and a young Grand Son that reminds Him of You.I am Your Father’s age, So I can imagine . Nice Job!

Just a heads up…. my B-Day is not to far out. Think you may have just enough time to get mine done….lol

All kidding aside I really like this. Makes me want to build one for myself. Well done!

I love wooden planes, so this is right up my alley. Wish I can get a gift like that. Well done!
