Oh whiskey tree, oh whiskey tree...

My wife said that she wanted to put up the christmas tree, so I made one instead…out of whiskey barrel staves. ha! Her response, “why, just why?” And before you knew it, she was decorating it with my old whiskey bottle tops as ornaments. lol

It’s all barrel staves with a 1/2” threaded rod down the middle and 3’ tall. The bottom “stand” is two staves half-lapped and held together with two threaded nuts.

A fun little festive project.

Cheers!

That looks great. Am I right that in the “off season” you can just lay them all flat and hang it on the wall?

I didn’t try it but it should as long as i loosen the nuts holding the ‘stand’ together.

I bet it has a nice smell to it also! Clever! I also bet you are getting lots of orders, so you have to save up more decorations…..

great project especially since you gave the wife what she wanted. Where are you sourcing your staves? I have a project I want to start and am looking for a few.

I call around to beer and wine breweries to see if they’re selling their old barrels. It’s a hit or miss thing so if they have barrels I buy quite a few of them. -)

Personally, I think it looks nice. It’s also different.
