My daughter calls me up and asks if I could help her with a graphics arts project she is taking. When she was in high school we would do these types of projects all the time and she got quite a reputation for her flamboyant designs. My motto is nothing is worth doing if you can’t take it to the extreme.
I love sitting down with a scratch pad and toss around ideas till something jells. What i love even more is how interested she is in the actual doing of the project.. I had to resist the urge to do it rather than show her.
So the project was to take a 2 dimensional painting and make it 3d within the confines of a box. Now I will agree that this is not “extreme” by any measure of the term however as usual there was very little time. In retrospect we could have done a great deal more. We toyed with the idea of Japaneses style doors etc.. and I’ve beat myself up all week with the ” why didn’t we ”... oh well .. she called last night and said Hey dad I have this new project due .. my evil chuckles resounded off the walls as I contemplate the joys of the trouble we shall create this weekend….
