This coffee table was made from reclaimed cedar 2×6s and 4×4s that had been previously used on a large deck for railings and door frames. I jointed and planed off the old paint, resawed some of the boards for 5/8 thick slats for the bottom deck. The apron and stretchers are attached using loose tenons (domino). The top is a bread board style with pins holding the ends tight. The top is attached using blocks with glued in tenons that fit into a mortise in the apron. The base’s finish is SW semi-gloss beige paint. The table top is finished using vinegar/steel wool solution to darken followed by a white wash with watered down flat white paint. The final touch is two coats of clear briwax.

Beautiful rustic style with modern white color – perfect match. I like the way you shaped those legs.

I simply love the color. I used to bleach wood and come out with something similar with Ash.

Very well done. the color is terrific – particularly for a beach house.
