Christmas Exchange Box

I tried to get this done before the Party Sunday but ran out of time. I think I’ll just give it to some good neighbors.

It’s simply Oak and Cherry. I finished it with Arm-R-Seal. It measures 6 1/2 X 5 1/2 X 5/12.

I put a beveled top on it and really like the look.

This is how I do hinges – I just super glue them, let it set, and then drill a pilot hole and screw them down—after rubbing the screw in candle wax. I’ve never had a problem doing it this way.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks everyone.

kdc – I like the hot glue idea. I don’t know how people get their box top to a perfect fit without temporarily fastening it. After one more Christmas present box, I want to try one like your Unity box. I have wanted to for a long time.

I like to have as much done as possible before finishing. Once I’m done temporarily setting the hinges, I remove the screws and the hot melt usually peels off the hinges and the box easily. Then I can finish…...
