Major armoire progress

Major progress on my largest single piece to date. I’ve been nibbling away at this armoire for a few months, as time permits. A couple months ago, I got the bottom section in the house and today my handy friends carried it from my upstairs shop in the garage to the dining room.

As you can see from the photo of the base, I made some discs to fit into recesses in the top section so it would align and fit together like a Lego. It worked great!

The thing is made of red oak, if that wasn’t obvious from looking at the grain.

Thanks to Travis, Brian, Jonah and Corey for helping today. The last photo gives a little scale. I’m 6’1”.

Thanks for looking and comment away.

That is a great, and large, piece of furniture!
I can see why help was required to move it.
It appears to be well made and proudly shared.
Of course I am prejudiced because I like red oak.

Are you planning to add doors?

Thanks for the comments. Yes, shelves and doors are in the works. Got three shelves done last night and ran out of stain. Three more to go.

The doors are going to have the bottom 1/3 as a wood panel. The top two thirds will have an opaque glass with curved oak overlays. Here is my rough sketch of what I want.
