Nativity Figures

For several years I made painted wooden figures from the nativity for my godson and gave them to him for Christmas.

The wood was maple I think. I sketched the figures, cut with my jigsaw, and painted and left unsealed. I think there were a few other figures… maybe a shepherd and some sheep too, but I couldn’t find the picture with them.

I really appreciate the simple aesthetic of them. It kept the project from becoming too tedious, avoided small pieces that a young child shouldn’t play with or that could break off, but still let me be artistic in the painting.

Awesome! I love your painting: It compliments the simple shape of the figures but still manages to bring the project to life. Nice work.
