snowman ornaments

So, I thought I would try my hand at turning a snowman. How hard could that be? Well, for me it was more difficult than I had anticipated. I soon found out that my skill level with the skew was sorely lacking. Anyway, I always did enjoy a challenge. I found that making a template helped me be more consistent with my attempts to replicate the pieces. As always thanks for looking!

You know the old saying Keep trying until you run out of wood… Oh wait… that’s not it..LOL!
Anyway your snowmen came out awesome! Love the look and those hats give them a personality all their own.
Nice work Lee!

Damn! wish you had posted this earlier… I just made 13 similar looking snow people for a customer and a shape template would have been a great idea! lol at least i did you use measurement template. They look great! It definitely pushes my skill with a skew I tried to use a diamond shape carbide cutter but couldn’t get the look I wanted.

Great work Lee !
A template always has helped me with turning multiple pieces.
Those snowmen are perfect for decorating at one of our most cherished holidays.

Thank you for sharing.
Merry Christmas brother.

They look really cool Lee. They are similar to ones I turned only mine didn’t have faces. I was trying to find some of the ones I did to show you but my wife said she gave them away as gifts to her friends. Gives me more reason to do more. Love the hats too.

Thank you Drew.

Dave, I didn’t trust myself to paint on faces so I drilled 1/8” holes and inserted 1/8” dowels for the eyes, nose, and buttons. I used my Dremmel to shape the mouth and then colored it in with a black Sharpie.

Matt, used used three coats of spray lacquer.

Thanks Bob. I had to make a template so I could get some consistency.
