I built this entertainment center to fit perfectly in the corner at my old house.

The two sides against the wall don’t actually meet, but instead there’s a diagonal back that leaves a triangular space behind it. The top, shelves, sides, and back are all cabinet plywood with a strip of veneer glued on the edge. The front face is curved, a 45 degree arc even though it’s spanning 90 degrees. The three drawers at the bottom have a veneered hardboard face that I steamed and curved. The center drawer is large and rectangular, and sized for two columns of DVDs. The side drawers are triangular and slide out at 22.5 degrees to the walls. I got beefy drawer slides and abused them by placing them on the bottom instead of the sides.

The plexiglass doors and the drawers all have locks to keep my young (at the time) son out. The door latches can be opened with a knife and the drawers have a spring-loaded bolt that slides into a hole in the bottom panel underneath.

Just below the top is a 1/4” strip of oak that I also steamed and curved. I cut it about 1/3 of the way around from the right and made a shelf that slides out along the wall. This was designed for holding a camera or laptop attached to the TV.

Inside there is a power strip and a computer fan to avoid heat build up.

It is indeed a very nice cabinet
Now being a new member I will tell you some of the expectations of posting creations,
1 In the projects “front Page” (I guess thats what its callled), there are six brown boxes with the text “No picture” that means there should/could be a picture there, I my mind its a “must be” unless an explanation for being so mean is provided in the story text.
2. You have done a great job on the construction explanations, so the pictures of locks, power distribution and other associated items that cannot be seen at the front could/should (maybe shall is a better word) be in the remaining 5 missing pictures, otherwise a curious interested member will/may annoy you with many questions.
Now a real biggie!
3. No ruining projects by posting pictures sideways.

Not only does this hurt my neck trying to view them correctly I rapidly loose interest and usually never provide any constructive comments, which is sad really as if you check out one its partly ruined by its presentation

I would have to say in closing for a software background Engineer you have sucessfully mastered the Systems and Hardware Engineering of woodworking as well!

Welcome!!

P.S. I see you have a couple of other posts already so I am off the check them out now!

Thanks for the tips. This post was especially light on pictures because I got lazy and just dug one up from the past, I’ll make sure I provide a few more in the future.

And that chest was gorgeous despite the sideways picture!
