Recently carved this apple wood spatula from the last of an apple tree trunk I was given by a local amishman. Roughed it out in the shop then did most of the carving sitting in my living room on the rocking chair I just completed!

Apple wood is definitely my favorite spoon carving wood hands down! It carves nice when green, doesn’t tend to split, and dries really hard with an exceptionally fine and smooth grain. Also has a nice medium brown color.
