That is a nice looking chair. It looks to have some interesting joinery. It would be great to have some clos-up photos of the joinery if you have any.

How does it attach to the canoe seats?

The chair sits on the bottom deck of the canoe, if the canoe doesn’t have one. It also acts as an additional seat. I’m a big guy at 250 Pounds and is very strong.

Kenny, dude, I like it. Sometime in the next year or two I want to build a short canoe and need to build this type of seat, as the regular seat would make it sit too high. My second build was a thirteen foot and has a regular seat in it but I’ve been on the lookout for a great looking idea. This is it! It looks fairly simple and very comfortable. You did a fine job on this seat. It folds quite flat also, another plus. I may use this idea if I ever get to building the canoe, thanks for sharing.

Hey Jeff, making the hand cut dovetails is the hardest part of the project. The bottom of the seat is curved for comfort.

My hand cut dovetails leave a lot to be desired. Maybe by the time I get this seat done I’ll be better at it. I have to learn somewhere haha.
