The case is solid cherry, with Minwax “natural” stain and satin spray-on lacquer. The vertical dividers are set into the shelves with an 1/8 inch groove/dado, but the little bookend pieces are just butt joints.

This was a tough one, and took me an inordinate amount of time to finish—I started in May and finished last night. Partly because halfway through milling the boards, I decided my planer sled system just wasn’t working, and gave up until I broke down and bought a jointer. Then, of course, after I glued up the panels I stored them poorly and they promptly warped :P. Learned that lesson. Managed to get them all reasonably flat again by stacking and stickering and a little bit of hand planing.

It was kinda a silly project to do, reallyt: I got the idea to do this because I was enchanted by the circle cutting jig I made for my bandsaw, in order to do a Thien-style baffle for my dust collector. Thought it was so cool I should do a project that used a lot of circles. I may have put 100 hours or more into the case. Using the circle jig? Maybe 1 hour total :P. Ah well. It’s pretty cool anyway.

Very nice looking bookcase. Should keep books well organized and easy to find.
