This was a project with a piece of Cherry wood scrap that just screamed BLUEGILL…
the entire piece is hand carved and polished without the use of sandpaper
my cabinet maker trainer used to say….”SANDPAPER IS FOR FOOLS THAT CAN’T SHARPEN THEIR TOOLS” THE END RESULT WAS ALOT OF SCRAPING the tips of the scales is done in gold leaf
the eyes are plexiglass polished and pupil painted rimmed with 24k gold
the finish is clear satin and of course hand rubbed hope you enjoy it
Jim

Wow, this is a great piece of work. Very realistic looking. The gold leaf added pizazz to it.

That looks good but I think your cabinet maker trainer was a bit off with his sandpaper phobia.

I really envy you carvers, you really got some talent there. I just wish I could catch a few that size.
