Krenov's ballet

Project by Zipsss posted 745 days ago 772 views 2 times favorited 22 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is a “Krenov” inspired piece. The dimensions are 24” high by17” wide and 12” deep. I use sliding dovetails to lock all the walnut parts together, and the doors and drawer fronts are veneered plywood. The Veneer is Masur Birch. This is my first Veneer project. I have to thank Lee for introducing this technique to me, and to Karson for the veneer itself. The base is about 36” high, very light, but stable enough. The cabinet sits on the side rails only, with a dowel that connects the two parts, giving the impression of floating above the frame. The “ballarina” design feet I used in other designs, but in this one they are thinner and more elongated.

Wow – that is nice. I keep saying I’m going to try some veneering, just have to sit down and order some I guess.
