Hand plane (no, the other kind)

For those unfamiliar, a hand plane is used in bodysurfing. It acts like a small bodyboard and allows the bodysurfer to keep their body somewhat out of the water (and thus have less drag). This is a quick build for a Secret Santa exchange. I had a leftover mahogany chunk from my Japanese toolbox build so I used that for the blank.

I originally was just using a rasp, but that got old and I ended up carving the channels with a number 9 carving gouge and then using the rasp to smooth it out a bit.

Great job – would love to see it in action (Us Midwesterners are not always familiar with surfing accessories.)
Thanks for sharing.

I was trying to figure out how you mounted the blade in that contraption! Body surfing? Sounds like fun!
