This is a knife I made out of a larger broken knife. I bought a decorative blade for a few bucks from a pawn shop and made the mistake of taking it camping. After a couple nights of hacking wood into kindling, the handle had broken and was loose on the knife. I hacked the pin off and threw out the old handle and then forgot about it. Found the blade in my shop a couple years later and decided to make use of it.

The handle I made out of an old piece of wood pulled off a broken toboggan we found in the back of my mom’s property. I’m not sure if there is a better or more proper way to do it, but I like to put the handle slats on the knife before giving them the final shaping and sanding. The only part of the handle that is sanded down it the tip of the handle facing the blade, which I learned can save me from scratching and scuffing the blade if I tried to sand it when the handle is already on the knife.

Excellent job. It’ll last forever.
