Walnut Milking Stool

In need of a project and a way to use up some of this excess walnut “scrap”, I edge jointed a few boards to make a stool “for what warming by the fireplace with”.

The scalloped seat top and staked legs were pretty intimidating, but now chair building seems much more approachable now.

My 3-year-old daughter helped with rounding the legs, she got a kick out of making spiral shavings with the spokeshave. Usually, she’s coloring in the shop so I’m declaring this the first father-daughter collaboration.

1 days old and somehow this stool already has a personality.

Thanks for the feedback Jim. Swapped out the images. I guess I thought some folks around here are more interested in the wood’s figure then what you did with it :)

Great work! I love building chairs. I’m going to try one like this someday. And you can’t go wrong with walnut. All you need is the cow now ;-)
