On the left, my first try with Ambrosia Maple. It is only 4” or so across. I tried for a nice thin side and a more classic bowl shape. It’s taking less time for each lather project now.

In the middle; a small Lace wood bowl. Wow, this bowl took a lot of sanding! It kept feeling fuzzy until I got to 1500 grit.

On the right is a small Canary wood bowl that my wife completed last week. I really like the red streaks that look like veins running counter to the grain.

Wow, Chris, these are beautiful! And, you’re making all these on a lathe that cost you $100. That’s awesome! You are making some serious sawdust. ;^D

Keep them coming.

And what about your sons’ projects. Do we get to see them as well?

Mot,

Actually it turned fairly well. You do have to be careful of catching the gauge on it; if you do it will take a sizable chunk out. Like I said earlier; the biggest problem was the slightly fuzzy quality of the surface afterwards.

Grumpy,
I have been using Hut High Friction Polish. It says that it is a shellac & wax combination. I am using Walnut oil on the inside of the pieces I am making for kitchen/food use with the Hut polish on the outside.

Oh… and thank you for the compliments!

Great looking bowls. Looks like you are enjoying the hobby with your wife – wish I could drag mine into the shop to work with me.
