Three footed platter

Three footed platter turned from yellowheart. Platter is 12 inches in diameter and has a decorative rim detail.
Used Deft gloss spray lacquer as the finish and then applied automobile wax and buffed the platter out.

Nice idea on the 3 footed base. How did you clear out in between the feet? Router?

I used a ryobi recipocating carver to clear most of the waste and then hand sanded down to 400 grit. All this work was done while the piece was on the lathe.
