Here is my first woodworking project. It was a surprise present for my fiancee, but unfortunately the base did not arrive until after her birthday. The upside was that she was able to help me put the finish on the feet last weekend! The top I made myself from pictures of a table that I found on the internet, while the base was purchased from a local woodworking store. I have been lurking around the site for a few months, but I wanted to wait until I had a project to share before I joined. Thank you all, Lumberjocks has been a great help as I have struggled to complete my first project. Many more to follow!

This is one great “first project!” That is an excellent job, and you’ll enjoy using it too.

Thanks Tom, I had a lot of pics, the joinery was pretty simple, and I read everything that I could get my hands on.

That’s the way to do it! Read a lot, and then get busy and start making sawdust.

Not really my design, but thank you David. I actually had to simplify it just a bit. My next project I plan on designing myself as much as possible… not an ark, a workbench, we already have too many pets :)

I say that they are both “keepers”, that table and the woman that will help you work on it! Marry her quick before another JL’er starts courting.
Great contemporary furniture. If this is the first, I can’t wait to see what else you have cooking.

I agree with Mark. A woman who helps finish her own gift is a keeper!
Great project!

Great looking table, & well done. Your lurking didn’t handicap you any.

Judging by the quality of your first project – you are an exceptional lurker. Your table is going to be a tough act to follow, I can’t wait to see what you do next. BTW, I agree with the others, your lady is a keeper – ya gotta love a woman that enjoys helping in the woodshop.
