I bought several large Hickory boards from someone and he gave me a piece with a big crack and void right down the middle. I had it in my shop for about a year, then one day I was moving it to get something else and just saw the bench in my mind. I started on it that day and finished 2 days later with this. All made from one board except for the walnut butterfly keys. I routed out an slot under each key that runs about 2 inches into the board on each side and epoxied a steel rod in to keep the keys from cracking. there are also Walnut wedges in the the rail. Finished with 3 coats each of Waterlox and Spar Urethane

Thanks for looking..
