I built this piece about four years ago and used solid mahogany for most of the piece with some fibercore mahogany for the table top. The drawers are made using baltic birch plywood and have a continuous piece of mahogany across the front with a great swirled design. I made this from one piece.
The bottom shelf is inset into the legs 3/4” with the bottom of each leg tapered for the last two inches.
More decorative than versatile, this table looks great with most of my other projects. I used three coats of english chestnut stain underneath a few coats of oil poly.
