Modern handrails

I had some scraps left over from my bench and decided to make some modern style handrails. I actually measured my wife’s hand to get the ideal shape for her to hold it at the angle of the stairs. That and the countless coats of MinWaxPoly make it very comfortable indeed.

Great looking rail, Laminating wood together gives it interest and makes it look better than a normal rail!

That looks pretty good to me. I’ll have to remember this. I have two long handrails that are ugly. One is just a 2×6 painted white and the other is just the round rail you find everywhere.

Hey Jason, it was really simple to do. Just laminate, plane, joint and route. Actually the finishing took longer than the build. The only issue I had that was in anyway tricky was the ends. I wanted to round them but I had already routed the grip so it was mostly manual.
