Two bowls done with the Bandsaw technique to produce the stacked layers. One with six woods (leftovers) and the other entirely of Oregon Myrtle.
The leftover bowl is fairly small 7” x 2” tall.
The Myrtle is about 10” in diameter by 4” high.
I treated myself to a new Bandsaw blade. Amazing how much easier it was to cut the blank.
Computer was out of commission for the last month, so couldn’t post anything, but stayed busy in the shop anyway.

The combination of woods on that 1st bowl…wow!! Stunning!! The second is very nice too. Your finish really brought out the richness in color. Very beautiful…thank you for sharing! : )

Simply AMAZING…..I am awestruck every time I view one of your creations. I am going to have to pack a bag and come stay with you awhile and have you teach me a thing or two (or maybe even three). Your turnings are a thing of beauty. Oh yeah, I know of what you speak on the computer thing, had to replace mine a few weeks ago. The one I built 6 years ago just got too cluttered with JUNK and operated at a slugs pace. We don’t have snails here in the PNW but we got plenty of SLUGS…..

There is no doubt that the “Leftover” bowls are the best use of the bandsaw technique, but I thought I’d try it just once. I think the “all the same wood” bowls are probably best left to a solid tree chunk so that you get the continuous flow of the grain throughout the finished bowl, but it seems worthwhile to try something different at least once.
My wife predicted that the Myrtle bowl would sell quickly at the Labor Day craft fair I participate in. We’ll see if she’s right.

well I’ll have to look over the bandsaw technique, those are both just beautiful bowls, I really like the different shapes and also like the choices of wood and color you chose.

I like the colors. What is the reddish colored wood? That piece would look great in any home. Very nice.

Wow you do amazing work. Do you have any type of computer program you use to design your projects or do they all come out of your head?
