Very dry and bug eaten nicely spalted Holly. I almost threw the blank away a couple of times, thought it was too far gone to turn. A “little” wood hardener helped. 7 1/2” diameters and 5” tall. Finished with BLO and lacquer.

It’s amazing that you turned this without it exploding! Now you have a master piece and a beautiful reward!

Well done with a interesting piece of wood. Turned out to be a real gem, not firewood.

This bowl looks so fragile and is so beautiful!
The turning must have been extremely exciting.

Great job!!

Holly is usually white, did the BLO give it the amber color?

Beautiful bowl. What type of hardener did you use? Thanks for posting.

Thanks all!
Putty-The BLO does darken the wood some, nicely though
Leafherder- I use Minwax wood hardener. Put it in a small squirt bottle and saturate.
