My Grandpa has had his Pacific war medals in a metal box for many years, finally they can come out for every one to see, and reflect on the sacrifice that generation made for this country. The box and lid were made using alder, the flag supports are from a limb of Texas mesquite, and the miter splines are rosewood. The brass corner details were lightly in laid. The latches were mortised in using a carving knife and a dremel, then epoxied. The finish is a wiping varnish.

Sorry for the pic quality, camera phone.

Really nice looking shadow box. Your Grandpa’s medals should look great in there. They should be displayed with pride.

-- You will never build it unless you try. The second one always turns out better.
