I have a few projects going, but when this came to mind I just stayed on it until completion. All the pieces were already here.

It features the ever popular FREE Harbor Freight flashlight. I love Harbor Freight. It’s about 4 – 5 miles away. I have flashlights everywhere, plus dish and bar magnets, batteries, tarps, whatever. A lot of their stuff is crap, but I still love Harbor Freight.

I turned these pieces separately, mortise and tenon, and put them together without glue for final shaping. I left a dowel on the end of the column to go into the mouthpiece. Paracord is used as the wiring. Brass fittings complete the piece. The brass ferrule on the earpiece is a plunger that operates the switch on the flashlight.

The mouthpiece was cut from the same board as the base. Wood jaws made it easy work.

My first attempt at thread chasing. I broke all the rules and it still works. 20 TPI.

I didn’t do much to the base, I wanted to keep the weight on the bottom. I left the chuck recess pretty much as it was, just cleaned it up some.

I really enjoyed making this piece, and I don’t have a desk.

Mahogany and brass. 14” tall x 7” wide. Rattle can spray lacquer.

What a great imagination you have. That is great. My wife would love that she retired from a telephone company. Antique telephones everywhere in our house..
