Rocket Ship Toy? Model?

Got it in my head to build a model of the Flash Gordon ship but got side tracked into this style, still old school but not a Flash Gorden ship.
Used the same technique as I did with the sub but changed the steps around for a better body style.

I used the lathe to shape the body of the space ship where with the sub I used the band saw for a squarer body shape.
The body is maple and the wings are poplar.

Here’s a picture before adding the Danish oil finish.

Now the oil finish see how the oil make the wood POP!
I forgot to add that I used Ebonizing stain on this project and it turned the birch body and poplar wings a nice brown color, no blackening it like with oak or cherry.

I may need to buckle up with a full harness for this bad boy.

If I leave at say 7 your time tomorrow morning and pick up Gr8Hunter we should be there about 9, this is one fast ship!!! :-o
Pond hopping is no problem for this bad boy! lol

I love danish oil! LOVE IT! You could try making a 20,000 under the sea thing as well! Same general shape
