Greetings! More Hair Sticks, and 2 Eggs, and in High Gloss. 3 new Hairsticks, a Green-Blue-and Brown, Yellow and Black, and Purple and Black. 5 1/4 inch area for wrapping your hair, around 7 inches long. Two Eggs, same wood, Green-Blue-and Brown, and an all Pink. All done on my Jet 1220VS lathe. However, these are all finished in HIGH gloss conversion varnish. While the pictures are not so good, in real life they look as if wet. 5 coats of sprayed conversion varnish. The only draw back is that while spraying you cannot see any runs or issues like you can in satin sheen. The high gloss shows all the defects, scratches and so on, but if you can get thru that they look great! While these are very smooth, the high gloss is so smooth that it grabs a bit, when you touch it. That is the best that I can explain it. We have been doing some gun stocks at work with it, and while it looks great, I am not sure that on a gun stock that I would want one. But good thing that the world doesn’t rotate around me! The last picture is the whole family of hair sticks so far. Having fun making them but no sales. Just like making them. Trying to sell on Esty, but have to say it has been disappointing so far….. Thanks for looking.

These are all just beautiful! Please try not to be discouraged because they aren’t selling online. I felt the same way when I tried to sell some of my stuff and prints of my paintings. Maybe you should try to find a shop in a ‘touristy’ area near you and take a day trip and present them there. With beautiful items such as these, I think people want to touch and feel and see them in person.
I don’t have to tell you how bad things are in the economy. People are cautious at best. I have to keep reminding myself of that too. But please don’t let it reflect on the beauty of the work you do. Keep doing what you are doing. At worst case, you made some incredible keepsake gifts and family heirlooms. They are all wonderful!

Hi,
I’m also wood turner, and would like to know how do you paint the sticks, or the laminates, how do you make the stain go deep in the wood?
Thanks
