This is another recent refinish project, This piece is 100% solid walnut which is actually a treat, No veneers to sand through. I completly disassembled the piece, stripped each individual piece then reassembled. Once assembled I sanded then finished with 100% water based finishes.

Beautiful restoration job! That is a nice piece.

Did you have a problem with the water based finish raising the grain of the wood?

Thanks,No, Its not really a problem. A little light sanding with 320 takes it right off.

Fantastic bit of restoration. I’d never have thought it could be done this well.

Excellent. I found one of these at a garage sale this last summer. I passed on it because the scrollwork was done on plywood and the whole unit was pretty much in an abused state. Plus, the owners were taking bids and I just don’t have time for that.

Yours didn’t look much better in the start, but you’ve really done a great job restoring the piece.
