Here are some photos of the completed conservation work on the east altar railing near the sacristy in Mission San Xavier del Bac. The west railing is in process and should be done soon.

Are you involved in the work, Luke? It would be interesting if you could share more details regarding the effort.

Hi Rich, yes I have been doing the bulk of the wood conservation work. There is extensive termite (and other) damage throughout the church. We have been going through and stabilizing the original 18th century altar railings.

Great to see you getting recognized for your skills, research, and hard work Luke. They are so lucky to have you.
I’ll be down soon. Maybe I can get a tour.

That’s impressive work, Luke. I clicked on your URL in your signature and on to your Instagram postings of your work at San Xavier. I never would have guessed that we had someone of your caliber here in town, but I’ll definitely follow along with your postings. Thanks for sharing it.
