I have needed a place to store and organize my tools for quite some time. So I decided to build a dutch tool chest. I figured it was a good compromise between construction time vs skill building. At this point in time the only item I still have planned for this chest is to add a small drawer or two to the bottom compartment for better organization down there. If you would like to see a little more details of the build you can go read my blog series on building this chest. The chest is finished with distressed oxford blue and paste wax. Hope you enjoy!

Looks great. I’m loving working out of mine.

Thanks JADobson. Did you build the companion lower storage unit to sit your chest up to a more comfortable working height?

I built the bigger one with two lower shelves. I still find it a little low and might make something for it to sit on. I have a Japanese style toolbox that I rested it on while I was building it and that seemed to be a good height. Here’s my box:

Nice tool chest. I’m already thinking the storage companion will be my next project: https://www.popularwoodworking.com/woodworking-blogs/chris-schwarz-blog/dutch-tool-chest-lower-storage-unit

Great looking tool storage.
