Diamond Willow Hiker

I plan to make a couple of hiking poles for my wife and I and I keep thinking about this one. We do not have any diamond willow here in NZ but it is winter now so I am going to take a few walks in the bush and cut a few poles and let them dry and see what I can make of them.

Nice work! Diamond willow is one of my favorite woods to work with.

No I wish it was a rattlesnake rattle, but it is only a Jack Pine cone. My kids use to call these Jack Pine cones ” Dragon’s claws ” because, well, they looked like a claw…
