I spotted the new Vertex pen on the Pennstateindustries.com site a few weeks ago, and bought a couple of kits. It’s just tool-ish enough to go well in the shop.
The kit hardware is gun metal finish with a blank from a Corian countertop in bluestone. The blank ate up my chisels, but I finally found the shape that fit my hand and the pen.
The fit and finish of the kit is top notch. It’s a click pen, but there’s no audible click, which is a nice touch. Feels very solid and writes very well. The original pen cartridge is medium point black ink, but I’m upgrading the ink cartridge to a medium point blue out of personal preference.
A good turning experience, even if it’s not quite lumber.

I’ve been lookin at the vertex. Might try a couple. I turn a lot of corian. You just need to keep your tools nice and sharp. I use a carbide tool for most of it. Well done. Now work on your pitcher takin. LOL
