Hi folks,

Here is a simple dowel jig one can build easily in one hour. I included a PDF 1:1 Scale Template in the videos’s description.

Here is a 2 min video how I made it and how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbKv0zfd2w8

Clever jig Michael, and a great video. Easy to watch, and immediately clear.

Nice jig, but….more importantly, one of the best, most concise, self explanatory and informative videos I’ve ever seen. I hate watching somebody cut the same pieces 15 times, even in double time. Template, hardware, materials, editing, voiceover without annoying music. Perfect!

Gonna build one tomorrow while watching the Seahawks thump the Giants. Go Hawks!

Thank you Andy!
In the video I attempted to show that you could even drill the dowel holes “free hand” while in reality it is still better to clamp one of the pegs for better stability as the drill bit can “walk” a little when you are just starting to drill. The brad tip bits seem to be more stable though…
Good luck tomorrow with both your team and the jig! :)

really great Idea and really great to give others a free plan and not do what the jerks do when they make posts just to charge people for a plan—Thanks for doing right to help make this community here a positive place and hopefully one day jerk free

You want do make it as deep as possible without compromising the strength of the insert’s hole. You can just print the the template and measure things you want. I adjusted the size to make the printed plane to be 1:1. And my dowels were 3/8 (about 9.5mm)
