New set of Awls

Made up a set of awls from some leftover 3/16” music wire, a Purple Heart pen blank and a piece of pine. The long one with the Purple Heart is spiral ground with a tapered point. The short one in pine is a Bird Cage tip. I stripped off the earlier handle, just didn’t like it.

For the Bird Cage I tried to simulate the finish Lumberjock TriFern (http://lumberjocks.com/trifern) has on his turnings. I think I have the sense of it but not the execution.

Very nice set!
