My mother and father in law gifted me some left over walnut from their house project. It sat in their garage for 10 years before they gave it to me, and it was twisted and bowed pretty good in spots, but wow! What I found underneath the surface was amazing curls and almost burl like sections. Because of the twists I couldn’t make anything big out of it, but I could make a nice cutting board. She displays it proudly:)

Wow is right! That is some gorgeous walnut. Is that maple it’s paired with? What finish did you use?

Great looking board.

It is paired with maple. And I used a butcher block oil that has mineral oil and something waxes in it too

If you gift the giver of wood with something from their gift to you. Wood will make a constant migration to your doorstep. IOW good on you for making them something from their wood.
