I have been fascinated with these round tops for awhile so I gave it a try. I made 6 each of the larger ones and 10 of the smaller ones. I have gave them away as presents. They are out of oak and the one I used a door skin on.

Thanks for looking,

Very nice collection. Nice oak hue, too.
They look like a lot of fun.

Wonderful chests, great presents, I am sure the recipients were thrilled to get them, I know I would be.

This is ironic, I was out in my shop working on the same type of project almost identical. I then took a break to see what is on lumberjocks and there was your project. I am trying to make a round top trunk from reclaimed flooring to donate to the our humane society raffle. I have to say this has been a nightmare project for me. The wood is australian cypress and I have been having problems with wood dust, wood movement, and wrong proportions of my project. What I was struggling with today is trying to put some spring hinges on (after the heavy lid closed and nearly broke my index finger). It’s been a nightmare project, and there are many times I would like to start from scratch again, but the raffle is coming up fast.

But enough about me, Your doing a much better job than me, I really like the proportions of your boxes, they just look right. Also I like the construction of your chests, I should of did it the same way, but my mortise and tenon skills need to be improved on. Overall they have a nice look to them, they look solid and the oak finished well. Great Job, I am going to put these on my favorites places.

Great looking boxes. I have to ask if that is a Firebird in the pic.
