Well I thought I would have the trim finished tonight and ready to paint by tomorrow, but as you can see, there was a small problem. To be precise a 1/4” problem. The last piece of crown I have is exactly 1/4” too short after coping to fill the last space. :o( Talk about planning it close. And of course I found this out about a half hour after the store closed. I have to go to HD and get another foot of crown tomorrow so hopefully I will have finished the fill and sand phase by tuesday.
The little white dots are putty that is filling various brad holes and imperfections. I will fill the rest of what I can tonight. That should save me some time tomorrow. After that it is paint and shelves. The doors will have to wait until after Thanksgiving, as I don’t have them ordered yet. I plan to use Rockler’s unfinished custom door service. All 9 doors were running about $150 for the panel doors last I checked, but after Thanksgiving we should have some extra money and SWMBO will probably want to upgrade to raised panels.

Well bad news, with the additions she requested the doors are up to over $300 for the cheap ones. I can buy the woode for $250 but I need a new 1/2” shank router to handle the bigger bits for the doors. :o( It will have to wait for a few more weeks.

That’s the way it works, ol’ Murphy is just around the corner. If the budget is tight you will always need just one more piece. coming along well.

lookin great rob ! since i do a lot of this type work ill offer you a suggestion that you maybe havent considered already you could make your own panel doors that match the panels on the side . ive done this on a few projects where the money was getting thin . keep up the nice work !

Yeah I hadn’t thought to make it match the end frames. The $250 would buy enough wood to do a raised panel but if I substited 1/4” plywood and used more of the bead I used in the end I might knock off a hundred from that. It would also match the end, be easier to do, and I wouldn’t need the bigger router just yet (not that I will tell my wife that).
