This is the first furniture I have designed/made, and now it is completely finished! It s made of European white oak and covered with a lambswool seat. For finishing I used cold pressed linseed oil. All the parts is held together with simple mortise and tenon joints.

Why?
This was a school-project (fine woodworking-school) and it was a real eye-opener for me. For the first time I understood that wood is truly alive, and a beautiful material to work with. In the school we talked allot of quality and how important it is. I often think about the furniture Ikea makes…their quality is OK, but it is sad that OK is part of our mentality today (clearly since IKEA is blossoming around the world). I really hope that one day, people will invest more money for more quality, and not the other way around.
Anyway..
Learning to make furniture (starting to learn), that will last for generations to come, is something I will always remember when seeing this stool…and what a pain in the back the upholstery was!

Have a great summer wherever your are!

I like it. I have never seen a stool top like that either.

Nice easy design, just love it. Most get hold of some lambswool to make something with.
