A friend gave me some roots of a tree he took down figuring I would use them for smoking meat. But it looked so unique that I thought why not see what happens if put on the lathe. First had to clean all the dirt and loose pieces of it then figure out how to hold it on the lathe. The base and some of the smaller pieces were turned nicely and finished it with Seal Coat then spray lacquer. Mounted it on a piece of Rosewood for stability

Wow.. That looks great. I can’t imagine how scary that thing must have been whizzing around on the lathe. You get extra points for bravery.

Yeah for sure it was very eerie my son took the picture on the lathe then left the shop, didn’t want to be around when it came apart.

This is a nice piece and I love the wood.
