Project Information

I made this door for an attic conversion in my house the door sits in a custom made rebated door frame. I put a grove in the rebate on this door frame to suit a 1/2 hour incumesent strip for the soul purpose of stopping any possible draught there might be from the eaves the loft.
The doors are made from douglas fir 3×1 1/2 stock with a 1/2'' douglas fir panel and matching bolection moulding. I used wedged mortise and tennon joint with mahogony wedges to contrast with the douglas fir. The doors are hung on 2 brass butt hinges and yes i used flat head brass screws for the proffesional finish. I hope to lacquer these doors in the coming weeks and will keep you up to date on the finishing process. So comments are welcome let me know what u think.

Well i was thinking about this already and yeah you could use this as a pull down door if you could hook up the hinge mechanisms to the door. I've got 3 more of these doors to make for another attic conversion but they are much taller and i have to spray them high gloss white
